The planning toolkit
Good decisions start here.
Four simple tools to turn your measurements, budget, and constraints into a practical next step. No account needed.
01 · Get the proportions right
Rug size finder
Measure the seating footprint you want the rug to connect, or the dining tabletop. Add your preferred extension and check against the room.
Rectangular stock rugs only. Dining defaults to 70 cm beyond each table edge; adjust to your actual chair travel. The floor border is a styling allowance, not walking clearance. Read the measuring guide.
02 · Buy the right amount
Paint estimator
Estimate rectangular-room walls. Enter the combined area of doors and windows you will not paint. Ceiling, trim, and primer are excluded.
Formula: (2 × (length + width) × height − openings) × coats ÷ coverage × allowance. Use the coverage printed on your chosen paint. Absorbent walls and color changes can require more. Choose a finish.
03 · Give every purchase a job
Budget planner
Set a spending envelope and keep a reserve for delivery, hardware, and surprises. These allocations are a starting plan, not price quotes.
Keeping furniture: 15% furniture, 35% textiles, 30% lighting, 20% finishing. Replacing: 40%, 25%, 20%, 15%. Percentages apply after the reserve. Currency changes the label, not the value. See a worked example.
04 · Know what to do next
Your room action plan
Choose your room and biggest constraint for three concrete first moves. You can print the result and take it with you.
Inputs stay in this page. The plan is a decorating starting point and does not assess structural work, electrical installations, or individual accessibility requirements.
Units are converted when you switch a measurement system. Always confirm the actual product dimensions, coverage, care instructions, and local requirements before buying or installing.
